Health Risk Assessment

Health Risk Assessment

In recent year, we have become increasingly aware of the uncontrolled spread of Chronic Diseases like Diabetes, Hypertension, Obesity, Respiratory Ailments and Cardio-vascular Disorders. We keep hearing about their life-long ill effects on our health and also the co-morbidities that they bring along with them.

Many people express concerns about unhealthy lifestyle, erratic eating habits, and bad work-life balance as the major reasons. Others however believe that these concerns are exaggerated or unwarranted.

How do we, as a society & as individuals, decide where to focus our efforts and resources to control their hazards? How concerned should we be?

Health Risk Assessment is a scientific tool designed to help answer these questions. Government agencies rely on this assessment to determine policy decisions. Societies on the whole can also guide the changes required to avoid these health hazards. Individuals who learn the basics of Health Risk Assessment can improve their understanding of both real and perceived health hazards and can work more effectively with decision makers on solving them.
